A SALUTE TO AMERICA

A SALUTE TO AMERICA-- (From the Red,White, Blue and Gray) Welcome to Baby Boomer Patriotism 101 We're glad you came today--- Before you dismiss us graying seniors Here's a word on the Red,White Blue and Gray. Although we may all be gray-headed )And usually prefer driving in the slow lane) We still always get to where we're going And Old Glory's honor is our great gain. Though America's Torch of Liberty is burning low We must raise it up much higher--- You can count on the Red,White,Blue and Gray We're here to keep fueling Freedom's Fire! We faithfully fought in Korea and Viet Nam And victoriously won World WarII
too; We fought for the Freedom of America The undefeated Red,White and Blue. Socialism is NOT America's Constitutional goal We're taking our great Nation back! Back to Freedom, back to GOD No more skidding off America's track. So now although we are sure getting older And our fringes may be getting gray; We the People plan to reclaim our land So won't you stand strong with us today? Let's sing louder the "Star Spangled Banner" Let's hum again 'American the Beautiful" too; Let some hot tears roll down your cheeks Many brave soldiers have died for America too. Honor America with the "Pledge of Allegiance" Defend the very Soul of America today; Put your right hand over your heart And Thank God for the Red,White,Blue and Gray! 2013 by Douglas Raymond Rose Member Academy of American Poets

MY DUCT TAPE DAD

My Dad can fix almost anything That's a fact, simple and pure; Just give him a roll of old Duct Tape And he can repair it---that's for sure! ---If maybe something's broken And you think there is no cure; Just give Dad a roll of Duct Tape ---And he'll fix it---that's for sure! My Dad may not be a licensed lumber Or an Electrician that endures; But with a roll of old Duct Tape ---Dad can repair anything for sure! 2013 by Douglas Raymond Rose Member Academy of American Poets

A SALUTE TO OLD GLORY

I'm always at every Ballgame And at all our holiday parades too; I enjoy the bright airy spaces ----And rambling skies of blue. I'm officially present for funerals In fact, I go almost every day; I stand tall but silently alone As others bow their hearts to pray. I go off to all foreign battlefields Where my country's brave have been; I stand erect in school classrooms ----As diverse students all file in. Although I'm not high maintenance I remain fabulously First Class---- My colors of Red,White and Blue ---Are absolutely eternally priceless. I stand strong for American freedoms For all citizens---old and newborn too; My official name is still OLD GLORY --I'll fly forever courageously for you! 2013 by Douglas Raymond Rose Member Academy of American Poets

MOTHERS ARE NATIONAL TREASURES

"I have eyes in the back of my head: My dear Mother used to say; A Mother knows and understands What a child does not even say/ A Mother's arms are made for tenderness Loving ears for compassionate care; Her dancing eyes are eager to observe What truly is happening there. Her grand heart is ever open All 24 hours of every day A Mother knows and understands What her child does not even say. Her wise advice follows her children All along life's bustling way; Understanding mothers are National Treasures May God Bless all our dear Mothers today. 2013 by Douglas Raymond Rose Member Academy of American Poets
